Wedding Wednesday Kick-off

Kristin and I, after thinking awhile about what we wanted to focus our blog on, decided to make Wednesday’s focus on weddings and event planning. Instead of focusing on anything today, I wanted to explain to you why we wanted to do this. After getting engaged July 2011 and getting married July 2012, I realized I loved coming up with ideas for décor, dresses, accessories, really just every little step in planning. After talking to Kristin, I could totally tell that she has the same passion for planning and accessorizing events that I do. In fact, she has a closet full of just party supplies from parties she has thrown, or wants to throw. (It’s awesome!) We would have “business meetings” where we would plan the details of our lovely future business … and then we would go to yoga. :) But, between my wedding, and now Kristin’s wedding, we have been busy planning our own events! Oh, and not to mention we both have full-time jobs as teachers that we can’t leave just quite yet! We hope that you will see as we release some details little by little from our weddings or events we have helped put together, that we really are very enthusiastic, detail-oriented, passionate girls who would LOVE to plan the perfect event for you. And hey, out of all those business meetings we came up with a name, which got us here … Exceptionally Chic Events!

Kristin's 411...

Hello there! My name is Kristin.  I am currently a High School Math Teacher.  While trying to teach this wonderful youth of America is, in theory, an amazing (roller coaster of a emotions) career, my true passion is (and always has been) fashion.  I cannot really draw, and the extent of my sewing talent is putting a button back on a shirt. I never thought I could pursue a future in the fashion world.  However, one day I hope to open my own boutique/event planning business.

I was a CAbi (Carol Anderson by invitation-an in home clothing line that represents seasonal designer collections exclusively designed for CAbi) consultant for three seasons and absolutely LOVED it!!  Unfortunately with CAbi, teaching AND coaching I was spread WAY too thin and had to let something go. L That something was CAbi.

Just a “few” of my favorite things are: polka dots, stripes, coffee, organizing, shopping, hanging with my amazing support system of friends/family/fiancé, my cat Max, listening to music and dancing!!!

About five years ago, I met my sista from anotha motha, Elyse.  We grew up ten miles away from one another. We both grew up with the same love of dance, clothes, accessories, organizing, and the dream to teach.  We even went to the same college!  Life finally brought us together during our teaching careers and we have been inseparable ever since.  We taught high school and coached pom pon together for about four years.

During this time we had the thought to start an event planning business due to our other passions, entertaining and planning.  Not too long after that, one of my coworkers mentioned that they really liked our “style” but she would never come up with the outfits on her own.  She mentioned that we should make a website to post all our outfits on to give other woman out there inspirations and ideas to go off of.

Elyse got engaged soon after and was busy planning her wedding.  During that time, I too, got engaged and am currently planning my wedding for April 2013.  While the last year has been quite a busy one for the pair of us, we have not lost site of our goal.  We have decided to combine our love of fashion and planning our weddings into one fabulous blog…Exceptionally Chic!!

Getting to know Elyse...

Hi! I’m Elyse. I’m so excited to start blogging with one of my bests, Kristin! We decided it would be best for us to start with a “get-to-know-us” post because who wants to take fashion/event planning advice from someone they don’t even know? So here we go!

I am currently a high school Spanish & English teacher. I have lived in Michigan my whole life and I love it. I got married to my 1st crush, 1st kiss, and serious love of my life, Brandon, this summer at an outdoor July wedding in his parent’s backyard. It really was by far the best night of my life and exceeded all my expectations of awesomeness. If I could relive it over every day I so would (I’ll be sure to blog about some of the details on our “Wedding Wednesdays”). :) I love my friends & family, my pool, shopping, dance parties, pineapple, The Bachelor, and dinosaurs. I feel like there is so much more that you should know, but I’m sure you’ll figure it out as we begin this journey.

So, why did Kristin & I decide to start blogging? Well! If you were our students, you would know that we are basically twins. We met when Kristin took a chance on me (a little, scared student teacher) and let me help her coach her poms team. We became very fast friends and quickly realized we loved a lot of the same things including, but not limited to: creating unique outfits, dancing, shopping, and throwing really pretty parties. There would be times when I would be teaching in my classroom, not seeing Kristin before school started that day, and kids would come to me saying that Miss Palmgren & I were wearing the “same” outfit (I mean, same color scheme usually, but there were definitely times we were wearing the SAME exact shirt or skirt!) What’s funny is that this happened a lot, not just once or twice. It was obvious that we were meant to be friends in this life. She is the coolest.

Seriously, we're always twinning. So anyways! I’m so excited that Kristin suggested we start this blog! We know that we love fashion and putting together outfits. In the future, we would love to start an event planning business (Exceptionally Chic Events!) Our blog will cover all of this and probably more, so follow us on this new, exciting journey!

The 1st, but not the last.

So .... Hello, world! We are two gals who met because of their common stylish threads and love of all life's creative avenues. In this blog, we will share our daily styles, as well as our venture into becoming the coolest event planners that hope to one day meet you. The pair of us just went through planning our own weddings and we'd love to make your special day (or fabulous event) a dream come true. We hope you'll follow us in this adventure!
