Some Fabulous Friday Words of Wisdom

Kristin and I were talking yesterday about what to do for Fab Friday and I have a really great pair of camo pants that I can't wait to share. But, then I read this on Facebook and loved it. So, for Fab Friday I am sending you to Mary Schmidt's tumblr page to read her words of wisdom on turning 25. I've passed 25, but I thought that a lot of these things stand true and I feel that they were what I needed in this moment. So without further ado, check this out!

10 things you didn't know about Elyse!

So, last Wednesday Kristin did the 10 things you didn't know about her (which had me cracking up!) and today I'm here to do 10 you didn't know about Elyse! Hereeeee weeeeee gooooo!

10.} I have a weird obsession with wanting to be a DJ. I'd be DJ Esizzle.

9.} I LOVE THEME PARTIES. Like, love em. I love to plan them, love to get dressed up for them, love to see what people wear. I already have plans for my 30th birthday party theme (and that isn't for 2 more years!)

B was my date to our annual summer formal party many moons ago.

8.} I traveled to Spain to study abroad and that is probably the craziest thing I've ever done. I lived with a family who spoke only Spanish and didn't go on the trip with a single friend. I came back after making some great friends, knowing so much more Spanish, and liking WAY more food that I did before.

7.} I've worked at a golf course for 8 years, my brother went to school to learn the golf industry and now works at a very exclusive private club, my dad golfs as much as he can, my mom has won longest drive a bunch of times ... but, I still cannot golf for the life of me.

6.} I, too, was a dancer from about the age of 3. That is something that drew Kristin & I together to become fast, fabulous friends!

One of my very first friends, Kristina! Before our tap dance.

5.} I have to follow recipes exactly. I have the hardest time substituting or changing things!

4.} I am working towards a goal of running a half marathon this November. I still can't figure out how to like running and will probably never be in love with it, but this is a goal I'd like to accomplish!

3.} We've traveled a ton of places, but my favorite vacation spot is Traverse City. I love the beaches, the food, the atmosphere, and obviously the wine. :-)

2.} I have to wear one-a-day contacts because I have really sensitive eyes. Contacts are a pain, but I will probably never get Lasik because I love having the option to wear glasses (and love having cute glasses as an accessory), silly, I know!

1.} I am so incredibly happy to be where I am right now in my life. It was always a dream of mine to be a teacher, marry a great guy (well, in 4th grade it was my dream to marry Brandon- so that worked out!), and live close to downtown Clarkston. I have the best friends and family a girl could ask for and not a day goes by where I don't feel extremely blessed! Cheers to that!

Fabulous Friday GIFT ideas!

Hi all!! Today we're sharing a couple of websites that were brought to our attention and that we think would be great gifts! We haven't bought from either one, but loved the suggestions coming our way. Check these out!

First is Better Life Bags, recommended to by Elyse's friend, Beth. This is a company out of Hamtramck, started by a woman who just didn't like the bag choices when she was looking for a diaper bag. She now specializes in custom bags ...that are super cute! We also loved this company because Rebecca, the owner, donates a percentage of her profits to low income entrepeunuers. She also hires women who otherwise could not work and helps them get back on their feet. Love this cause, love the story, love the bags!

Next, Jayne recommended we check out Diamond Candles. This company started with a sweet story of the owner, David, who wanted to propose to Brenda but couldn't find a bag to put her ring in. Instead, he bought a candle because he knew she loved candles. In these 100% soy candles, at the bottom of the candle, you will find a ring worth $10, $100, $1000, or $5000! Plus they have all sorts of smells. What a great gift!

Lastly, this is a website that Elyse has been following on Instagram for awhile, called The Shine Project. This is another great cause, where owner Ashley started this company making jewelry. She employs all students that are at risk and helps them start a career and eventually transition into the world. They make seriously beautiful bracelets and stacks that are great to gift. Every purchase you make directly impacts a student ... and being teachers, we LOVE this cause!

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! XO, E & K

Gettin' Personal this Wednesday!

Hello everyone!

This (Fall-like) Wednesday we are switching up a little bit.  Elyse and I decided that we'd let our readers 'in' a bit more and came up with ten things you may not (or may) know about us.  This week it is my (Kristin's) turn and Elyse will list hers next Wednesday.

Ten things you may not know about Kristin...

1.} I played piano for ten years...now I am not sure if I could even read the music :(

2.} My dream job would be to own a boutique in a cute lil' downtown setting.

3.} I loath scary movies. I can't even watch/listen to the previews.

4.} I love to balance my check book. I mean, love it... (Even though it often ends up with a zero balance) Ha.

5.} I made bread (well baked something other than dinner) for the first time yesterday. Seriously, haven't even made cookies (well, if the kind you cut from the roll and put on the cookie sheet counts then I have)... It turned out "ok".

6.} I love to pick one item in my closet (pair of shoes, necklace, etc.) and plan an outfit around that one item.

7.}  I hate getting ready for the day/doing my hair/showering...yep, it's true.

8.} I love Dancing...anywhere, anytime. (I danced my whole life... Well, starting at 2).

9.} Laughing/laughing with others is one of my top 3 favorite things to do.

10.} I love picnics! Wish I could go on one every week.

E's Mode Monday

I'm baaaaaaaack! From a fabulous week in the U.P. We had so much fun, but noooone of those outfits were "blog" worthy (although we did have a Pirate Day and that could have been entertaining...) so I took some pics of my "running errands" outfit today! Shocking, I'm wearing my fave skirt. My knee is still a lil rough from my bike fall, so I'm trying to hide it as much as possible. I also boho-waved my hair last night using this awesome tutorial from Robyn at Cleverlyours. No heat involved! Enjoy!

Skirt: Tilly's // Hi-Lo Shirt: Forever21 (similar) // Headband: Lemons & Lace // Watch: Nixon (similar: here and here)

K's Monday Mode

Helloooooooo!!!  We just got back, yesterday, from a fabulous family reunion up north :-)   My fam is the greatest!

Today's outfit consists of items that I have owned for quite awhile.  So, I did my best to find something very similar to them, or locate a place you can still purchase them if the store no longer has them.

Heels: (Gomax):  Sole Sisters // Dress: Target // Jean Jacket: abercrombie (same found on Etsy) // Necklace:  Forever 21 (same found on Polyvore)

Fab Friday Find - Lantern Style

Hi all!  TGIF!!

Downtown Fenton has this awesome store called the Iron Grate.  They have adorable items for the house, baby, women's clothing, etc.  Everything is just so unique. You gotta check it out!

Anyway, I was driving by when I saw a sign outside that read "Tent Sale".  I had no idea this event was coming...I didn't check my FB news feed... :-(  So of course I had to check it out!!  I was a day or two late, but they still had some super neat things.

One item specifically was hiding under a table, just waiting for me.  We have been wanting to jazz up our back patio (and our fancy green fence...) so when I saw this adorable lantern (at half of its regular price) I couldn't resist.

When you get a chance, if you haven't yet, check this place out :-)

Have a great weekend!

XO, K
