Whatever Wednesday-Gender Reveal!!

As Elyse and I pondered what to discuss this Wednesday, it dawned on us that I haven't filled you all in on my good news.....Mitch and I are expecting our first child March 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am currently 21 weeks :-)

So, we decided that we should tell you all about our gender reveal party we had last week.

Mitch and I went to the Dr. on a Tuesday, for our 20 week ultrasound, and asked the tech to put the gender in an envelope.  We had to turn our heads a couple times so we wouldn't see "the gender"...as if I would know what I was looking for (at the time) anyhow...

I called the local bakery the week prior and told them our plan.  We were to bring them the envelope after our appointment, they would give us the cupcake that had the correct gender color filling and Mitch and I would take it to dinner and eat it for dessert...if we could wait that long.

So, we got home, threw our stuff down and walked to the local bakery.  They were SO excited to see us :-)

Mitch and I carried the box further down the street and had dinner at a fabulous place called The Laundry.  We ate our entire dinner with the box just starring at us... We were tempted to look tho!!

So after dinner, we slowly opened the box and peeked at our cupcake...as if something was going to pop out of the box!

Mitch and I, both, were convinced it was a little man... but to our surprise...

It was PINK!!!!!!

It was SUCH a wonderful and excited day!!!  We just LOVED that we were able to share this special moment just the two of us.  There are so few exciting surprises left in the world, that this was a day I would remember always!

A while back we decided that we wanted to share the news with our immediate family in the same fashion.  So we sent these darling invites to the parents, siblings and grandparents. The party was to be a few days after Mitch and I found out....so it sure was tough to keep THAT secret!

The theme being "ties or tutu's" it seemed fitting to use the banner I fell in love with on Etsy.  Didn't she do a fabulous job???

***We ordered the same cupcakes for the fam

After dinner, everyone picked what flavor cupcake they wanted.  I was hard to keep the grandma's from cutting into the cupcakes...we had to watch them trying to peek :-)   We told everyone on the count of three they could bite (or cut) into the cupcake.  We turned the video on, counted back from three and everyone cut into the cakes at the same time.  Everyone was so excited, all you can hear was screaming.  I had to ask, "what do you see???"  Finally my sister at the end of the video yelled, "PINK!!"  It was so unbelievably fun to what everyone's excitement.  I will remember that moment always.

One may say, boy you sure dragged it out....but we loved every minute of all of it!  Seeing everyone's face was absolutely priceless.

I know the cupcake/reveal thing is all the rage right now, but it sure was a fabulous, fun and exciting week!!!

Talk to you soon!!

Xo, K
